The Answer to the Bonus Question is “I did.”
Because we have poem-a-day, and Rattle, online where you can read poems daily, it has not been p2g’s mission to blog a poem other than the monthly five featured poems from emerging and well-published living poets, that are printed and spread across 13 hosting venues currently, (and soon to broaden) however, I just heard Raymond Carver’s poem “Last Fragment” referenced by James Ryan, Dean of Education at Harvard University, at this year’s commencement speech for the Harvard’s Education graduate students. I wanted to pass this one along:.
“Late Fragment” by Raymond Carver
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
