p2g listed on NewPages
p2g is now listed on NewPages, the premiere listing sight for literary venues. NewPages is news, information, and guides to literary magazines, independent publishers, creative writing programs, alternative periodicals, indie bookstores, writing contests, and more.
Since its first publication in July 2015, p2g has expanded from a local poet venue to a nationwide venue and now an international venue. We’ve had more than 500 visitors and over 2000 views. This is only the online visibility. More than 1000 print copies of poems are distributed monthly.
We’re excited to keep it growing. Thank you for supporting this Witter Bynner Foundation of Poetry grant-funded project.
Latest selection of poems features a 90 yo poet, a performance poet, and others from around the country.
With poems2go now listed on Duotropes and New Pages, we are getting submissions from around the country, including 90 yo Hal O’Leary, who writes “I may be past my prime, but I don’t fret,” and julie ann otis, a performance poet, who just recently released a limited edition of her new book. Check out Where to find p2g for a print copy to take.
p2g features Erin Belieu
Chery Strayed, author of Wild, writes, “I’ve never read a poem by Erin Belieu that I didn’t want to immediately rip from its bindings so I could fold it up and carry around in my pockets and read so many times that the paper turned back to pulp. She’s just that good.”
Now, you don’t have to tear one of Belieu’s poems from a book. You can take it from the closest p2g venue near you!
p2g Happy to Be On Duotrope’s Listings
Duotrope is an established, award-winning writers’ resource, to help you spend less time submitting so you can focus on writing. Whether you’re an experienced writer or just getting started… whether your creative leanings are literary or genre, factual or poetic… their listings cover the entire spectrum.
p2g is now receiving submissions nationwide, and will include voices beyond Boston’s local neighborhoods.
Looking ahead, It is my hope p2g will have ambassadors to spread the poems to neighborhoods across the country.
The Latest Collection includes 2015 Guggenheim recipient Cate Marvin
This month’s collection of poems includes another of Lesely University’s finest faculty of the MFA program in Creative Writing , Cate Marvin, also named one of this year’s Guggenheim recipients. Cate is one of the founders, with Lesley University MFA faculty member, Erin Belieu, of VIDA, an organization created to increase critical attention to contemporary women’s writing as well as further transparency around gender equality issues in contemporary literary culture. I highly recommend looking at the website and reading more, or better yet, get involved.

1369 Coffee House Joins p2g!
p2g continues to spread, adding 1369 Coffee House to its list of venues. Thanks to the manager, Emily, who supports p2g’s mission and happy to provide 1369 Coffee House patrons poetry with their coffee.
Ellie’s Bakery Sweetens p2g!
Ellie’s Bakery is the newest venue for p2g!
My husband, Michael, and I have been hanging out in Providence, RI quite a bit in the print shop of AS220 working on silk screening his design for USAT’s Rio 2016 Olympic team poster. We love Providence for its accessibility, architecture, the arts district, but mostly because of Ellie’s Bakery. We go every time we’re there which lately is twice wkly, and today it was twice daily. I worked on my poetry manuscript while sipping on an iced lavender matcha, eating a peach and pecan scone. Later, Michael and I went back for lunch for a chicken and bacon salad sandwich, and cinnamon roll for dessert. Michael loves cinnamon rolls and swears these are some of the best he’s ever had. The only others that come close are from Toddle Squat Bakery in Granville, OH.
Max, Ellie’s Bakery manager, is excited about the mission of p2g and is hoping to extend our poetry to their sister restaurant, Gracie’s, down the street. Thanks Max!

Porter Square Books Features Poet, Sharon Bryan
Next time you walk into Porter Square Books, look for Sharon Bryan’s book of poetry sharp stars, which includes her poem ‘Erasures”. Porter Square’s vibrant community is eating up poetry. We love Porter Square!
Check out this month’s featured poems and poets!
Five new poets featured this month and all five poems have love and/or summertime in the air. The poems in this collection are copied on different colors of paper, thanks to a suggestion from Porter Square Books, so make sure you collect all five.
Haute Coffee and Porter Square Books both ran out of last month’s collection, and Sunbird Cafe had only a few left. The other venues had at least half the collection gone, so we know at least upwards of 800 copies of poems have been read and taken.
Keep a look out, spread the word, and don’t forget to submit one of your own.
Cape Cod Poetry Review Gives Kudos to p2g
John Bonanni, editor of The Cape Cod Poetry Review Literary Journal was getting breakfast at Sunbird Cafe in Orleans, MA when he found p2g. He posted Mani Iyer’s haikus on Cape Cod’s Poetry Review‘s facebook page, giving kudos to the project. Thanks John!
